1 Introduction
ThinkAudio processes your voice recordings entirely on your device. We do not collect, upload, or store any audio, transcripts, or analysis results on our own servers. Your data is yours — always.
ThinkAudio ("we", "our", or "the App") is an iOS application that helps users record audio, transcribe speech on-device, and analyse transcripts with a user-configured AI language model. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding information collected when you use the App.
By using ThinkAudio you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you disagree with any part, please discontinue use of the App.
2 Information We Collect
ThinkAudio collects no personal information on its own servers. The only information generated by the App exists locally on your iOS device:
- Audio recordings — stored locally in the App's sandboxed storage.
- Transcription text — generated on-device and stored locally.
- AI analysis results — generated via your own configured LLM API and stored locally.
- App settings — your preferences, scene templates, and API configuration (Base URL, API Key, model name) stored locally using SwiftData.
None of the above data is transmitted to ThinkAudio or any service operated by us.
3 On-Device Speech Recognition
ThinkAudio uses Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer framework for speech-to-text transcription. All transcription processing is performed locally on your device; no audio data is sent to Apple's servers when operating in on-device mode.
Apple's own privacy practices for SFSpeechRecognizer apply independently of ThinkAudio. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details.
4 AI / LLM Integration
ThinkAudio does not provide or operate any AI model. The App allows you to configure your own LLM endpoint (compatible with the OpenAI API format), such as:
- OpenAI (api.openai.com)
- Anthropic Claude
- A local Ollama instance
- Any other OpenAI-compatible provider
When you trigger an AI analysis, the App sends the transcript text (not the audio) directly from your device to the API endpoint you have configured. ThinkAudio does not intercept, proxy, log, or store this communication.
Your responsibility: The privacy and data-handling practices of the third-party LLM provider you choose are governed by that provider's own privacy policy. You are solely responsible for choosing a provider whose privacy practices meet your requirements, and for keeping your API key confidential.
5 Microphone Access
The App requests access to your device's microphone solely for the purpose of recording audio at your explicit request. Microphone access is only active while a recording session is in progress. ThinkAudio never activates the microphone in the background without your knowledge.
You may revoke microphone permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. Revoking this permission will prevent the App from recording new audio.
6 Local Data Storage
All data created by the App — audio files, transcripts, scene configurations, AI analysis results, and app settings — is stored using SwiftData in the App's private container on your device.
- This data is included in iCloud Backup if you have enabled it for the App, under your own Apple ID.
- ThinkAudio has no access to your iCloud backup.
- Deleting the App from your device will permanently delete all locally stored data.
7 No Tracking or Analytics
ThinkAudio does not include any third-party analytics SDK, advertising framework, crash reporter, or behavioural tracking library. We do not track usage patterns, session lengths, feature engagement, or any other in-app behaviour.
The App does not display advertisements and is not monetised through data collection.
8 Third-Party Services
The only third-party integrations in ThinkAudio are:
- Apple SFSpeechRecognizer — on-device speech recognition. No user data is sent to Apple by this feature when operating in on-device mode.
- Your configured LLM API endpoint — user-supplied and user-controlled. ThinkAudio sends transcript text to this endpoint on your behalf; the provider's own privacy policy governs how that data is handled.
There are no advertising networks, social media plugins, or other data-sharing integrations in the App.
9 Children's Privacy
ThinkAudio is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.
10 Your Rights
Because ThinkAudio does not collect or process personal data on its own servers, the usual data-subject rights (access, rectification, deletion) apply to data held locally on your device, which you control entirely:
- You can delete individual recordings and analysis results at any time within the App.
- You can delete all App data by removing the App from your device.
- You can review and edit your API key and settings within the App's Settings screen at any time.
For any concerns relating to data sent to a third-party LLM provider, please contact that provider directly.
11 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will notify you via an in-app notice or an App Store update note.
Continued use of the App after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
